Taking History as a Lesson

Taking history as a lesson

At the end of your trip at the exhibition hall is this interesting feature. "Taking History as a lesson" is an account of what survivors of the Japanese Occupation learnt during their three years and eight months spent under Japanese rule.

This thought-provoking exhibit has its words printed on a large mirror which is mounted on the wall. Our group feels that this is the most unique and interesting exhibit as the purpose of this exhibit is to encourage visitors to reflect on the Japanese Occupation, and the creative use of the mirror fulfils its purpose supremely. It also serves as an appropriate end to this wonderful exhibition. The mirror provides visitors with a reflection of themselves, prompting them to focus on reflecting on the lessons that can be learnt from the Japanese Occupation and think about what they have learnt from the exhibits.
